Bath & Body Coupon (bathandbodycoupon.com) was a critical project involving the complete restoration of a previously developed coupon website that had become offline due to an expired hosting plan. This site was significant as it served as the original template for later projects like Trendyol Coupon. Our primary goal was to meticulously recover all data and restore the website to its full functionality and original appearance, minimizing any loss of information.
Challenges
This project presented unique and significant challenges due to the absence of traditional backups and the delicate nature of data recovery:
- Absence of Backups: The most substantial challenge was the complete lack of site backups or accessible data. This meant conventional restoration methods were impossible, requiring an unconventional and highly resourceful approach.
- Data Scarcity & Archive Reliance: With no direct data, we had to rely solely on archived versions of the website (e.g., from web archives like the Wayback Machine). The challenge was to meticulously review these fragmented historical snapshots, identify recoverable elements, and piece them together to reconstruct the site.
- Reconstructing Content & Functionality: We faced the complex task of rebuilding the site’s content, coupon displays, dual-action buttons (copy and redirect), and sidebars from scratch based on visual references. This required reverse-engineering the site’s structure and ensuring all features functioned as originally intended despite the lack of original files.
- Design & Layout Replication: Replicating the site’s original attractive design and layout, including the orange background and specific element placement, was crucial. This had to be done accurately using only visual cues from archived versions, ensuring the restored site matched the client’s memory and previous success.
- Minimizing Data Loss: Our constant challenge was to ensure that the restored site was as complete as possible, striving to reduce any potential content or structural loss to an absolute minimum given the severe limitations.
Results / Conclusion
The successful restoration and relaunch of Bath & Body Coupon was a testament to our advanced problem-solving skills and technical ingenuity. Despite the complete absence of traditional backups, we meticulously leveraged archived web data to fully recover and reactivate the entire website, bringing it back to its original functionality and aesthetic.
